Homemade Toffee
This is my favorite thing to give my friends at Christmas. Toffee is pretty perfect as far as I’m concerned- sweet, nutty, toasty, and extremely shelf-stable. I make a few huge batches and divide them into pretty little cellophane bags with bright ribbons. It looks impressive but it’s actually super easy!

The vet made me really nervous, though, because he ordered a lot of tests on her this morning. He is super old school and never orders tests- he’s like a dog whisperer who can just tell what is wrong by looking at them. But today he seemed concerned. Because a few gals and I did a DIY treat gift making day and made some knock-offs and they are GOOD.
1 cup rice krispies, 1/2 cup Nutella, 3/4 cup chopped hazelnuts, mix together in a big bowl, roll into a ball, then roll in powdered sugar. Tastes like Ferrero Rocher, kind of reminiscent of Rice Chex Puppy Chow, but so effing tasty.

My extremely old dog is sick.
She has been throwing up since Friday and now is having bloody diarrhea. She’s 15 years old and I’m afraid it’s kidney failure.
