@cheddarlywry
 cheddarlywry said: I’ve never baked eggs—what are they like? Do you have an easy recipe to use? I sure do! Butter a ramekin and sprinkle it with your favorite herbs (I like dried tarragon, basil, chives, dill, etc.) and salt and pepper. Then crack two eggs into the ramekin and shake a little sherry on top (maybe two teaspoons, tops), then more herbs, salt and pepper, and a little parmesan. Bake...

Breakfast for dinner is always the right answer.
Doesn’t matter what the question is. Tonight I made herbed baked eggs with parmesan (and a splash of sherry) and whole wheat blueberry almond pancakes. Didn’t even take pictures, just got straight to the eatin’.

 guinevereunbound said: Do you think - outside of a little prep time caramelizing onions and such - that this could be modified for a slow cooker? (I have very little energy at times due to disability), and slow cooker recipes end up being much, much easier for me. Totally! I would just put the onions and peppers on the bottom, then the rice and meat, then the tomatoes, water, wine, and bouillon...

Jambalaya
Have I given you guys my jambalaya recipe yet? This is one of my favorite dinners, and I think it’s one of Ryan’s too. I make it every few weeks and it always hits the spot. There’s nothing bad about this dish- it’s warm, spicy, super filling, healthy, and it lasts a long time. Depending on how much chicken and sausage I add, it can make 6-12 servings easily. I just throw...

– Bhante Henepola Gunaratana (via illuminatedbeing) (via midnightsolace) I’ve heard this concept referred to in Vipassana meditation as the Knowing Mind and Its Objects- the mind itself is like water, completely pure, while thoughts and urges are like oil. When shaken up it all looks the same...

Inertia Update
Totally went to the gym and then bought a ton of Halloween decorations, all of which has helped my mood considerably. We now have a witch by our mailbox, a cute owl by our walkway, bats on our windows, a “BOO!” doormat, and a candy corn-shaped bowl filled with actual candy corn (and rubber spiders) on our fireplace mantel. Now, onto the jambalaya portion of this evening.

This is a truthy post
I’ll be straight with you - right now my life is all about overcoming inertia. I have been struggling with my depression again these past couple of weeks and it never ceases to amaze me how paralyzed I become, to the point where I can’t even force myself to go to the gym when I KNOW it will make me feel so much better. I have barely even blogged, because I just feel like I have nothing...

fuckyeahmarxismleninism: Troy was found guilty of murdering a police officer 19 years ago, based upon the testimony of 9 witnesses. Today, 7 of those 9 have recanted their testimony entirely, and there are enormous problems with the testimony of the remaining 2 witness accounts. There is NO OTHER EVIDENCE. The murder weapon was never found. There is no DNA to test. Troy is scheduled to die by...

Collecting Seashells With My Mother My mother collects seashells on the beach for hours- a pointless task, I scoff, nose buried in a book collecting UV rays instead. Until the morning I walked along the shore with her at dawn watching Sandpipers hop and mollusks open to the pale sunlight collecting seashells together- Angels’ wings, sand dollars, cats’ paws, the...

It is perfect soup weather
and I, incidentally, just made some perfect soup. Man, when the temperature drops almost 50 degrees in a two-day stretch (from 100 degrees on Saturday to 55 degrees on Tuesday), all you really want is something warm and spicy to take the edge off. This Chicken Taco Soup does the trick. It is hearty, rich, spicy and filling. Throw in a few buttery corn muffins and it’s the perfect cure...

Let's talk about underwear, ya'll.
These days the only underwear I’ll buy is from this place. Now, listen. I’m not usually an enthusiastic panty-buyer. I’m not one of these girls who cares if my bra and panties match, or if I’m wearing something that will look good in the event that I have to spontaneously strip down to my skivvies. Incidentally, I have never had to spontaneously strip down to my skivvies. I...

Fresh Tomato and Basil Quiche
I made this a few nights ago but I have been so busy that I am only just now getting to post it. This gives me the advantage, however, of telling you that the quiche is much better the second and third day after a chance to set up in the fridge. At the risk of sounding like a pretentious food person, the flavors really marry much better after a few hours.  I have never been a big tomato lover,...
